Like in 2025, This past year we attended our elementary school’s annual “Family Fun Night”. This involved us setting up our robot and field to present our robot and get the younger generations of Red Hook students interested in robotics and its inner-workings through games we made with our SCOTT bots made by the Software team. We used this time to spread awareness to both kids and parents about the organization of FIRST.
Our team attended the school district’s Budget Expo to advocate for funding for robotics and STEM initiatives. We gave a presentation to show our program’s impact on Red Hook Students. Our efforts, with the support of our community, helped us to secure additional district funding for our team.
For the past two years, our team has helped found and support a new robotics team in a neighboring town, Rhinebeck. We’ve visited their team many times, offering our advice. As a long-standing FTC team, we were able to mentor and share our knowledge with Rhinebeck’s members.
This year was our 2nd year attending the Rhinebeck Robotics convention, where we fundraised and shared technical knowledge. Our robot was displayed on stage next to their robots, demonstrating our long-standing collaboration and partnership.
Since we received school funding beginning only this year, we have acquired many grants from the Red Hook Education Foundation (REF) over the years. This year we attended their Fall Event. We had a stand to showcase our technical work and robot. We also engaged many young kids with our pin-making station and coloring booth, planting the seed for for future STEM leaders and FTC members. The REF has helped our team alot, and we were grateful for the opportunity to give back and help spread FIRST ideals to local families.
